We celebrated this year with so much more awareness on Noah' s part that I feel certain it heightened our own. We absolutely dread the thought that Noah could miss out on the anticipation of Jesus's arrival and all the incarnation means for the world. So we made a lot of efforts toward pointing him to Jesus instead of presents or Santa (although we will probably try to intro the historic st. Nicholas in future). Next year I would love to teach him about giving a bit more. We'll see where the comprehension level is at, but our neighbors had their daughter pas sour tiny little toys to all of the childrenin our neighborhood which I thought was a great way for her to learn about the blessedness (promised joy/happiness) of giving. I guess that means I have a year to start weeding out my own selfishness and start trusting that for myself!!!
We started Christmas morning by signing happy birthday to Jesus since we had just celebrated his birth in the completion of the advent story the night before. Then we had some mini cupcakes. We figure that Noah "gets" birthdays, so it sort of drove the idea home. Now on to the spiritual realities! Sadly, they're not as simple to illustrate in Legos and coloring sheets.
